Bermuda & East Coast

In late May, we fly from Sacramento to Newark, N.J., to board the Celebrity Summit for a 10-day cruise to Bermuda, Charleston, Newport and Martha's Vineyard. We'll post daily photos and a travel diary so you can join us on our D-Tour.

Wednesday

Traveling cross-country in time to board our cruise ship means taking the red-eye, a connecting flight into Newark, and a transfer to Cape Liberty, N.J. It's going to be a long day. And night.

Thursday

Dennis and I board the Celebrity Summit in Cape Liberty, N.J. I'm really looking forward to that sail-away.

Friday

Our first day is an at-sea day. Relaxation, here we come!

Saturday

Dennis has been to Bermuda before, but it's my first time to visit. I can't wait to explore!

Sunday

Our ship remains in port overnight, so we have a few extra hours to take in more of Bermuda before we set sail.

Monday

The Summit is at sea, and I plan to be at rest.

Tuesday

It's a day for old-South history and pirate stories as we visit Charleston, S.C.

Wednesday

After a night in port, we have the morning to see more of Charleston.

Thursday

It's another sea day. Are you sensing a rest-and-relaxation theme here?

Friday

I was in Newport, R.I., once many decades ago when my brother graduated from the U.S. Navy's Officer Candidate School there. I suspect this visit will be quite different.

Saturday

Our final stop is at Martha's Vineyard, so it's time to make the most of our last vacation day.

Sunday

Dennis and I disembark and head back to the Newark airport for our flight home.
