Pricing & Process

I take a limited number of new clients by referral only, focusing on family events, outdoor portraits, documentary photography, and editorial assignments. Email me for more info.

What should I wear for my photo session?

Wear what makes you feel your best. Here are a few tips:

• Dress appropriately. For professional "head shots," wear what you would normally wear to work, whether that's a jacket and tie or a polo shirt with your company's logo. For family photos, your look may be casual in a park but a little dressier for a bar mitzvah or wedding.

• Choose colors wisely. Blues and greens photograph beautifully. Solid black may "wash out" your skin tone. Bright colors will reflect back on you. Solids usually photograph better than busy patterns.

Avoid fad clothing, including T-shirts with slogans and designs.

Style your group. Set a consistent style or tone but avoid "twinning" with lookalike clothing. For example, you wouldn't want someone in dressy cocktail attire standing next to someone in T-shirt and jeans.

• Vary your look. Bring an extra jacket, sweater or scarf in a complementary color.

• Let your hair down! Long hair is beautiful, but keep it out of your face and eyes.

• Apply makeup lightly. You may opt for a little lip balm, foundation or powder to even out skin tones, and maybe a little mascara on top lashes. Avoid metallics or glitter, which are highly reflective.

What precautions are you taking during the pandemic?

I am fully vaccinated as of March 7, 2021, but I still wear a mask and/or maintain distance. I give preference to outdoor assignments that limit the number of people and households.

What are your rates?

I charge $275 per hour of photography with one photographer, and $150 per hour for related creative services, such as Photoshop editing. All professional services are billed in one-hour increments.

How do I book your photography services?

I require a minimum one-month notice for family events and portraits, although I take bookings up to a year in advance. The booking process is easy:

1. Email me about your photography needsincluding time, date, place, and how you were referred.

2. Schedule a call or distanced meeting. If we decide we're a good fit, I will draft an estimate and agreement.

3. Sign the agreement and pay the deposit. Only then can I hold your date.

If you have an urgent question or request, please send an email or message me through my Facebook page

What is your turnaround time?

Your proof gallery will be posted within seven days. Faster turnaround is available for editorial assignments.

If I hire you, will I own all the photos you shoot?

No. As the photographer, I retain the copyright on all my images, so I "own" my creations. But every client contract grants a license for noncommercial use, so you can download digital  files, post them on social media, and print them with any vendor you choose. Only direct clients may download image files.

How do I buy prints of my favorite photos?

In the top cover photo for each gallery, you'll see a blue "Buy Photos" button. That takes you to your shopping cart, which allows you to select photo prints and other merchandise from Bay Photo lab.
